What Is The Emerald Ash Borer?
The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is a beetle native to Northeast Asia. The beetle arrived in the US in the 1990s, and was confirmed in Pennsylvania in 2010 and New Jersey in 2014.
This deadly beetle feeds on the leaves of ash trees, laying its eggs on the bark. When the eggs hatch, thousands of larvae eat their way beneath the bark, where they consume the vascular system that moves water and nutrients through the trees. It is these larvae that damage and kill your trees.
It can take the EAB just one year to kill a young ash tree, and mature trees will die in as little as three years. By the time symptoms are present, the tree is too damaged to save.
The best treatment is prevention. Fortunately, Willow Tree and Landscape Services has the perfect formula to protect your landscape from EAB infestations.
